Rowena Wright's bicycle couture drew admiration and amusement at the recent Sustainable Ballard festival featuring activities, shopping, food and fun for all.
. . .

Author and artist Rowena Wright presents her Bicycling is Patriotic jacket dress made from a recycled bridesmaid gown.

Designer flourishes include reflective stars, attractive bows, wipe clean satiny fabric, zip pockets in the skirt, providing oft overlooked necessities for bike commuting, staying visible, and looking pretty.

Also featured at Sustainable Ballard were Monster Art featuring Rita Gruzman, One Robin Road featuring upcycled fashions by Julia, the Fashion RIP project with eco-conscious chic by Deborah, and Alicia Czerwiec, fabric student at the UW, and her amazing creations from found materials.

Alicia Czerwiec's amazing creations.

Rachel Carson's iconic environmental book Silent Spring lives on in Fashion RIP's skirt fashioned from a former suit trouser.
